Initially, Turkey was a partner in the F-35 program and planned to purchase 100 F-35A aircraft. Deliveries of the first units had begun, and some Turkish pilots were undergoing training in the United States. However, due to Turkey’s procurement of the Russian S-400 air defense systems, the United States decided to remove Turkey from the F-35 program. This action has prevented Turkey from taking possession of and using the F-35 aircraft, with the delivered units remaining in the U.S. As of now, the process for the Turkish Air Force to acquire and utilize F-35 aircraft is halted, and its future direction remains uncertain.
