The Göktuğ Project is an initiative launched by Turkey to enhance its air defense capabilities. The project aims to develop indigenous air-to-air missiles that will be integrated into the Turkish Air Force’s F-16C fighter jets. Under this project, TÜBİTAK SAGE has developed the Bozdoğan (within visual range) and Gökdoğan (beyond visual range) missiles, which have been tested on F-16C aircraft. Initiated in 2013, the Göktuğ Project is part of Turkey’s efforts to reduce dependency on foreign defense technologies and to establish a modern air defense system equipped with domestic technologies. The project seeks to enhance the operational capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces and strengthen the national defense industry infrastructure.
