The F-4 Phantom II aircraft stationed at Eskişehir Air Base were first integrated into the Turkish Air Force inventory in the 1970s. These aircraft were utilized for air defense, reconnaissance, and strike missions over the years. In the 1990s, modernization programs updated their avionics and weapon systems, enhancing their operational effectiveness. By the 2020s, the F-4s began to be gradually replaced by more modern jets.
