The 222nd Squadron of the Turkish Air Force, known as “Alev” (Flame) Squadron, operates the Lockheed C-130 Hercules, a versatile and durable four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft. The C-130 Hercules is renowned for its ability to perform a wide variety of missions, including tactical airlift, troop transport, medical evacuation, and humanitarian aid delivery. With a maximum speed of around 592 km/h (367 mph) and a range of approximately 3,800 km (2,361 miles), the C-130 can carry large payloads over long distances and operate in and out of austere airstrips. The 222nd Squadron, based in Kayseri, uses the C-130 Hercules to support national and international missions, demonstrating the aircraft’s critical role in enhancing the logistical capabilities and operational readiness of the Turkish Air Force.
