The “Şahin Filo” (Falcon Squadron) of the Turkish Air Force operates the McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II, a multi-role fighter-bomber aircraft that has undertaken significant operational roles. First flown in 1958 and introduced into Turkish service in the early 1970s, the F-4E Phantom II is capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 2.23 (2,370 km/h) and has a range of approximately 2,600 km.
